Welcome to Taylorducks. A website created so I can showcase my Indian Runner ducks. Starting in 2009 after 27 years of owning ducks and geese, I stopped accepting injured sick and stray ducks at my home so I could concentrate on just one chosen breed. I kept just three - Harvey and his wife Crumpet a pair of Pekins, and their bachelor mate Monty the Aylesbury. Now all other ducks kept here are Indian Runners- I only hatch from the Runners, and do so most of the year.
Residing In Melbourne Australia - I also have a block of land in the goldfields where I plan to build a humble little home on a few acres so I can keep and breed others waterfowl varieties as well.

Now 22 weeks old- the first of my Indian Runners ducks has produced the first Runner egg.
Most unexpected at this time of year - but very exciting as it is the first egg from a Runner that I have hatched myself. The first real generation of "Taylorducks"
It has been so hard to choose the final breeding ducks I would keep - As I not only want the Harlequin and Cinnamons - but also a few others for some experimental colour breeding.

Round three of hatching is now starting... With 3 ducklings in the lounge room- and 4 beside my bed....I am starting to wonder where I will put the new ones.

I mixed assortment of ducklings are now growing nicely. With 20 so far hatched- and more in the incubator I have my work cut out for me at the moment. I have a few very pretty looking girls, and look forward to seeing them continue to grow and feather out.

I now have hatched around 50 ducklings and have the incubator full as we head into spring.
Fast running out of room for brooders in the lounge room - but the babies are so much more entertaining than television anyway!

120 ducklings now hatched. Disappointed in the offspring from this first breeding season I have borrowed some birds from a friend. Having only one duck bred so far this year that looks promising in colour I am hopeful that the borrowed ducks - who genetics are proven will be just what I need. First eggs are in the bator - but it will be a while before the eggs set will be ones fertilized by my own Harlequin and Cinnamon drakes. At least I am getting green eggs now - so It will be a long six weeks to start seeing the results.

So starts a new year. Today I have 2 ducklings hatched - the next are due in a few days. the first of the eggs from the borrowed ducks. It will be a nervous few days while I wait to see the first of the " new " ducklings to emerge from the eggs.

Time to gear up for spring. With a dozen birds hatched form a selected mating I have filled the incubator with general population eggs for those wanting spring ducklings for pets before I seperate the flock for a few more setting. The three groups I will have are 1. Harlequins 2. Cinnamons 3. mixxed pen of colours- including whiite apricot and trout, with crested genes in that mix as well- it should result in some intersting ducklings.
